As the number of homeschool families increases, the United States government offers more to keep these families under their control. Homeschoolers take away millions of dollars of funding away from the public schools each year. The rate at which parents flee the public school system is astonishing, and public school administrators are trying everything under the sun to slow this trend. Going so far as to offer free computers and curriculum, public charter schools lure some homeschoolers using giveaways. By succumbing to these temptations, homeschool families are sacrificing their freedom and the quality of their child's education.
Enrolling in a public charter school program effectively removes most of the benefits of home education. For instance, parents no longer have the ability to mix and match their child's curriculum according to their needs. Their children cannot learn what the public school system doesn't want them to learn. Alternately, they may be exposed to things that the parent would not appreciate.
The level of oversight, red tape, mandatory testing, and other invasive policies is magnified as well.
Perhaps most importantly, the parent loses their ability to provide their children with a quality education. Declining academic standards have plagued the public school system for decades. These cyber charter schools are no different. They generally use the same, inflexible, poor quality curricula that stifle fast learners and leaves less advanced learners behind.
